What makes good Muslims sleep early for good causes

Muslims shouldn’t be awake during the nights by creating noise when everyone should be sleeping. It’s wrong to hang out with friends all night at any place for fun. If for any reason young Muslims have nothing to do, they show disrespect on some persons. By remaining indoors and awake until the wee hours of the morning, watching movies, they’re reasonably committing sin. Listening to music, playing video games or chatting on the Internet because they having nothing else to do is again a sin. They should keep them busy all the time working whatever good they need to spread peace around the world. All’s well will end well as this is what makes good Muslims to get up early too for the prayers to begin with.

Unfortunately, the disease of being awake during nights has been so widespread that the parents won’t mind at all. Even most middle aged adults are afflicted with the same disease by chatting during late nights. Many Muslim families come back from parties and dinners late at night and let their kids do the same.

Order of Daily Routine to Sleep Early

That’s not how Allah SWT made the order of things to go with the daily routine. It’s quite different to the natural rhythm, where Allah SWT has created in the universe and for mankind. Allah SWT says: “It is He who has appointed the night a covering for you and sleep for rest. The day He has appointed for rising.” (Qura’n – Surah Furqaan: 47).

So, it’s clear that the night is created for rest and the day for work and for seeking provision. Muslims shouldn’t do things in the opposite way as they’re doing since decades. Young Muslims seems to be awake at night and sleep late into the day. Sometimes, they get up even at afternoon time, and waste much of their precious time. Umar Razi Allahu Anhu used to punish people who were used to be awake during nights for fun and said: “You stay up for the first part of the night, then sleep for the last part of it?”.

What makes good Muslims: Be Awake at Nights for a Reason

If we look at how the righteous before us spent their nights, we realize that they used their nights for earning Jannah (Paradise). They pray and recite the Qur’an, weeping and supplicating to Allah SWT. However, most of the Muslims today take their nights as a means of entertainment and fun.

Prophet Mohammed (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam) said: “Beware of staying awake after people’s movements settle.”

Why did he said that? Staying awake till late night might cause many harms. So, what makes good Muslims?

The Prophet (Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam) had said in one of the Hadeeth known through Islamic scholar Farhat Hashmi that: “Staying up late is for one of three categories of people, those traveling, those praying the night prayers, or those on their wedding night.”
