England Without Jason Roy Still Favorite In Semi Final

Jason Roy is out from the semi final to be played today at 7:30 pm IST. Eoin Morgan’s team still looks strong to beat New Zealand but not convincingly. New Zealand has two good fast bowlers, who can still pick wickets and restrict the flow of runs. Trent Boult is left arm fast bower, who can still pick couple of wickets. Tim Southee too could be too good on his day. Kane Williamson can play sheet anchor role if Martin Guptill or Daryl Mitchell fail to perform. However, Jason Roy not playing semi final is a major jolt in English batting. England without Jason Roy still favorite. But it would not be a one-sided game.

The toss will not be crucial at Sheikh Zayed stadium, where the pitch will be good to bat and bowl. A slight dew effect will be there late in the innings to help the team batting second.

Eoin Morgan will play this game captaining from the front as his batting likely to click in the semi final. A good stroke player Jason Roy would be missed but other batters have a lot to control and pick the innings at anytime. Jonny Bairstow and Jos Buttler, are the two JBs England looking in to keep the momentum going. In semi final if batting first, a good score to defend will be 180.

England will be looking forward to restrict New Zealand to about 140 if England wins the toss to field first. A slight brittle always felt in New Zealand’s batting order. This would help England to bounce back and be in the game.

Interesting First Semi Final

The blackcaps have performed better again to storm into semi final after beating Afghanistan comfortably. Adil Rashid poses a threat to New Zealand in the powerplay or just after the powerplay. If New Zealand can manage not to lose more than a wicket in the powerplay then the semi final as expected would be interesting to watch. However, England without Jason Roy still favorite and a good bowling and batting team.
