Omicron is spreading very fast in India. The infections in the UK and France could turnout in lakhs of cases a day in the country in just few weeks. The government’s COVID task force chief said today. India now has more than 120 Omicron cases across almost every state and Union Territories. A couple of weeks ago India’s health experts were concerned. India reported 21 cases after the entry of Omicron a week earlier. Since then India has seen more cases to cross even three figure mark. Official figures two days back were 113. Uttar Pradesh also falls in the trap of Omicron just before the elections.
Spread of Omicron is still a worry
Over 120 travelers were missing after landing in India. There’s a high alert in Telangana State too. The spread of Omicron across India is simple to know, which could have been easily tackled. It’s highly infectious and people infected with Omicron have mild symptoms or no symptoms (asymptomatic).
India still have time to create awareness and stop the spread of the variant, which is so far not deadly. There’s nothing to panic, but at the same time India needs to be cautious. The third dose or the booster shot needs to be available in India everywhere easily within a week or two. It was learned that Omicron patients recover in quick time.
Vaccinated people reasonably doing well, but the problem is of concern because almost all vaccines not working against the variant. A report few weeks back highlighted Sputnik V as the best vaccine to fight against variants too. However, if Omicron is highly infectious and not allowing people to work. And yet others connected to the Omicron patients, have to be quarantined, then the spread of the variant is problematic. So, it’s good to impose online education and work from home again.
