Rising popularity of Majlis in Uttar Pradesh upsets communal forces as UP Muslims told to vote AIMIM. Asadudddin Owaisi is the leader of oppressed people – AIMIM is one of the secular parties in India. Hyderabad experts appeal to UP Muslims to strengthen Owaisi’s hands.
Hyderabad: Southern India’s eminent ulemas and community leaders appealed to the people of Uttar Pradesh, particularly the Muslims, to support the Majlis E Ittehadul Muslimeen by voting for it in the coming Assembly elections. Strengthen the hands of Asaduddin Owaisi who has emerged as the political leader for all UP people. UP Muslims told to vote AIMIM in this crunch situation, where the rise of communal forces keeps Muslims unsafe.
Addressing a press conference held at Media Plus here on Tuesday: Moulana Mufti Khaleel Ahmed, Vice Chancellor, Jamia Nizamia, Moulana Mohammed Husamuddin Sani Jaffar Pasha. Also few others like President, Amarat Millate Islamia, Moulana Hasan Farooqi, President, Sunni Dawate Islami and Ziauddin Nayyar, President, All India Majlis E Tamir E Millat appealed to the Muslims of UP. And also the secular minded people not to be influenced by the Sangh Parivar dominated ‘godi media’.
They should vote in favor of the Majlis candidates so that they can live with their heads held high like the people of Telangana.
Why Muslims need to vote Majlis (AIMIM)?
Although Muslims in UP constitute 20 percent of the population, their economic and educational condition is pitiable. No government of any political party ever tried to improve their condition. Instead they took away their rights and remained silent when communal forces perpetrated atrocities on them. The Muzzafarnagar riots and the action against the CAA protestors by the Yogi government is enough as a proof. UP Muslims told to vote AIMIM in this crunch situation, where the rise of communal forces keeps Muslims unsafe.
The situation for Muslims in UP
Every political party used Muslims as their vote bank. In this situation under the leadership of Asaduddin Owaisi, the Majlis has emerged as a strong force of Muslims, Dalits and secular people. The popularity of Owaisi has confused and confounded the communal forces and the attempt on his life is a clear proof. However, Asaduddin Owaisi is a bold leader, who doesn’t bow down to anyone except the Almighty. The communal forces are scared of his braveness.
The position achieved by Asaduddin Owaisi in independent India is not gained by anyone else, the ulemas said. Highly educated, and a committed Muslim and a secular Indian leader, Owaisi has inherited politics. In the last 70 years the records of service achieved by the Majlis in Telangana are worth emulation for all Muslims and secular parties. It is the only political party to have established educational institutions right from KG to PG besides creating a network of engineering and medical colleges.
The party has its own banks and over the years it has constantly increased its political strength. Asaduddin Owaisi created a ray of hope in the backward and underprivileged sections of UP and Bihar. In UP, Muslims and Dalits, who were down and dejected, are now aroused to fight the oppressors in order to get their Constitutional dues. The Sangh Parivar is disturbed by this revolutionary change and so are the parties, who wanted to exploit the Muslim vote bank.
Why UP Muslims told?
The Islamic scholars appealed to the people of UP to keep alive this spirit and awareness and use it to oust the oppressive forces. Although the Muslims in Northern India aware of AIMIM’s performance and acknowledge the leadership qualities of Owaisi. But they are a bit confused by some political parties that AIMIM’s presence in the election would help communal forces. However, we have seen in the past that in the Assembly elections where AIMIM did not take part, the so called parties failed to defeat BJP.
The question is when different political parties take part in elections, secular votes not divided but when AIMIM or Majlis jumps into the fray secular votes get divided. We appeal to the UP voters not to get carried away by the baseless propaganda and give Majlis a chance to represent them. They would know that their decision was right as we are witness to the Majlis or AIMIM’s performance. We want to tell the people of UP that Majlis is the only political party in the country whose office, Darussalam is open to the people all the time.
Peoples representatives – be the MLAs or Corporators – present every day at Darussalam to attend to people’s problems. Any person can meet not just the MLAs but even the Majlis or AIMIM’s president and Hyderabad MP without any appointment.
Non Muslims also prefer AIMIM or Majlis
Many non Muslims contested on the Majlis ticket and won in the GHMC elections reinforcing the fact that Majlis is a secular party. The party nominated a Dalit for the coveted position of Mayor. Majlis not just a political party but a movement. During the lockdown following the Corona pandemic, the party rendered succor to the poor and needy rising above religion and sect. At the risk of their own lives, the Majlis leaders helped the needy through food and medicine.

Majlis always takes the stand which is for the benefit of the people. The MLAs boldly represent Muslim issues in the Assembly and the party always rises to defend Muslims and Islam. On the contrary, leaders of other parties have to take the permission of high command to raise these issues and they end up toeing the party line. Therefore, most of the time leaders of other parties maintain silence on issues of Muslims against their wishes. We want to send a message to the UP voters that we are satisfied with the performance of the Majlis or AIMIM.
The Majlis presence in UP politics would surely act as a restraining force on the communal elements. The Muslim leaders further said that where Majlis or AIMIM not contesting, votes should be cast in favor of a better secular candidate. Same should be done in other states too.
Muslim leaders also condemned the attack on Asaduddin Owaisi. They also condemned attempts to ban hijab in some educational institutions in Karnataka. Thus restraining freedom to practice one’s religion. They wanted steps to be taken to remove restraint on wearing hijab.
