India played this T20I series against South Africa allowing young Rishabh Pant to lead the team. Youngsters looked good and also performed too good in the series. The senior players Bhuvneshwar Kumar along with Yuzvendra Chahal bowled very nicely in the T20I series. Chahal was not so good initially, but later on, in the series, he picked up to perform very good with the white ball. Rishabh Pant lost all four tosses of the coin consistently. That’s great as India levels T20I series even after losing toss after toss in each of the four matches. India wins this T20I by fighting hard. That’s great! Right?
Yuzvendra Chahal was not at his best in the first two T20Is against South Africa (SA). He bowled poorly and also late in the innings, which was one of the reason why India was about to lose T20I series. But, India levels T20I series with this night’s T20I match. Let’s see how India performs in Ireland and in England (later on).
The next captain for India will be another youngster Hardik Pandya, who will lead India against Ireland. India will play two T20Is as visitors in Ireland. A short tour. First T20I is on June 26 this year, and the second follows after a day off in between, on June 28.
Then again, it will be lot easier for India to travel from Ireland to catch up with Ireland’s neighbor England. Here, Rohit Sharma will lead a full fledged India team against England. A tight schedule.
The T20I 4 – SA Vs Ind
Ishan Kishan opened his account with a boundary in the first over, bowled by Marco Jansen. The two India batters Kishan and Gaikwad were looking good in the early overs of the India innings. South Africa won the toss again and elected to field again. Put into bat first, India started the innings aggressively. Ruturaj Gaikwad scored a boundary in the second over, bowled by Lungi Ngidi and then edged the next ball to be caught behind. He was out for 5.
The story moves further as South Africa pushes India in deep trouble. India never looked to be in the game after 10 overs bowled. India lost two early wickets as Shreyas Iyer also gone for 4 runs. Two India batters out cheaply. India at that time looking to build a partnership. That phase wasn’t so interesting, but Ishan Kishan was on song, but for a short time. Rishabh Pant was also struggling.
How India Levels T20I Series…,
India’s run-rate at the end of 10 overs was just 5.6, but both Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya fought hard. India were 56/3 after 10 overs. Runs were not coming easily, but Pant was a bit lucky. He was dropped by Maharaj off Shamsi, earlier in his innings. Pandya then did well to cut lose and hit Shamsi for two back to back sixes. Oh! No! Rishabh Pant got himself out! India were 4 down as 81/4 off 12.5 overs looked so bad. Pant couldn’t take advantage. He scored 17 off 23. That was not enough for India, but Dinesh Karthik walks in.
Yuzvendra Chahal was not at his best in the first two T20Is against South Africa (SA). He bowled poorly and also late in the innings, which was one of the reason why India lost Two T20Is, so easily. However, let’s see how India performs in Ireland and in England (later on).
Dinesh Karthik Changes The Scenario
Tough time for India to reach a score over 180, but Karthik was still there.
13 overs gone and India were 19 runs short of reaching 100. As Karthik was looking to settle in, both these powerful batters were not able to score boundaries. Pressure applied as Jansen was given another over and he was bowled out his quota of 4 overs when 14 overs completed. Karthik scored a boundary off Maharaj. Scored another two boundaries off Anrich Nortje.
That was cool and awesome because since 16 overs bowled, India’s run-rate crossed 10 in every 10 balls bowled. This time, it looked India would score more than 180 as Karthik was playing as a finisher, he used to be called so. Interestingly in the last overs, 18 and 19; South Africa was under pressure. India was 140/4 off 18 overs. Just two overs were left. Hardik Pandya caught by Tabrez Shamsi off Lungi Ngidi. Out!
Key performers in the series, would like to play more powerfully in the last and final T20I on Sunday. That will be the decider of the T20I series.
Tough time for India to reach a score over 180, but Karthik was still there. He played a gem of an innings and took India towards a fighting total. He was also out for 55 off just 27 balls. A very good knock indeed. Hardik Pandya also batted superbly. South Africa’s target was to reach 170. To win SA needed 170 and they with some huffs and puffs along with the injury to Temba Bavuma, couldn’t chase 170. India levels T20I series with one more crucial match to go.
