Although India lost 6 wickets by scoring 278 on board, it would be a tough task for Bangladesh. The first Test match going in the way within 99% possibilities of results. This means India having upper hand and will not let Bangladesh to comeback in the game. India would bat for at least 3 hours on day 2. This also would mean India can put up a first innings score just over 350. It looks like Bangladesh lose 4 wickets not so early, but in the last hour. India would definitely bat second time for their second innings on day 3.
The wicket is turning a bit right from the first day. So, if India continues to play till tea on day 4, the Test match would be interesting and India will be 1 up. Axar Patel’s wicket was so crucial, just at the right time for Bangladesh and in the last ball of the day 1 at stumps. Shreyas Iyer still can add more runs to his well played 82. Next to come, will be Ravichandran Ashwin, and the tailenders to follow. KL Rahul needs to attack right from the word go. He and the coach needs to assess the conditions if India scores more than just 300 in their first innings.
India needs to add at least 50 runs, having 4 wickets in hand. But home conditions for Bangladesh favors them to score more than 120 on day 2. At 120 for the loss of 4 wickets, Bangladesh would enter the morning hour, and complete their first session. At lunch Bangladesh would be at 230 odd runs for the loss of 7-8 wickets. If their tail wags a bit more then again it would be interesting to see Bangladesh losing marginally.
The Bottomline
Highs and lows for both India and Bangladesh would be too good to see. Let us comeback again to report just some more after the stumps on day 2.
