India Women Restricted England, But…

In the first over of the ICC women’s T20 World Cup group 2 T20 match, England lost their first wicket. In the third over again England lost another wicket. Although India women restricted England to a modest total at the end, it becomes horrible chase. India started the chase by taking in unnecessary pressure, and striking one, two to too many to get out.

Earlier, England were in deep trouble, having lost 2 wickets with just 14 runs on the board and in just 3 overs. Just 3 overs and then 4 good overs were bowled by India as England looked still in a hurry.

English women scored as many as 24/2 off just 4 overs. Two overs of the powerplay still needs to be bowled at that time. England scored a quick 37 in the powerplay as six overs completed and by losing 3 wickets too.

Running hard and quick between the wickets, English women converted singles into twos. Naser Hussain already expected a low scoring game. He said, “could be a low scoring game”, sitting in the commentary box. India picked another wicket with ease. England lost 3 wickets in the powerplay, trying to take too much advantage of the field.

Wickets fell at regular intervals during the course of the game. India women restricted England by bowling extremely well, initially. As the game progressed, it looked England could reach 160 easily.

At the end of 7 overs, England were 40/3. A good partnership was building up during that time. With awesome running between the wickets, England piled up some total for India to chase. But there’s nothing interesting from here on to let you know about the poor second half. Very poor batting show by India women although all India women restricted England by bowling good and fielding good enough.

Renuka Singh took 5 wickets, and Smriti Mandhana batted just too nicely and left by playing a rash stroke soon after hitting a SIX of the previous ball, but…

Then the end of the story of this game. The weekend encounter was interesting, but India lost the game miserably.
