The 2023 Asia Cup unreasonable controversy, which surrounds India and Pakistan since over 9 months, creating more viewers. The stance taken by the former PCB chairman Ramiz Raja is almost similar, but stronger with current PCB chairman Najam Sethi. Asia Cup 2023 is to be held right before the 2023 ODI World Cup in India.

An amicable solution is likely within 2-3 days before the SGM (Special General Meeting) by the BCCI on May 27. The SGM won’t likely to happen without a decision over the hybrid model of the Asia Cup as requested by Najam Sethi. This is so because India also need assurance whether Pakistan playing or not in 2023 World Cup. Pakistan also would seek assurance from India in written for India’s tour in 2025 Champions Trophy. If things remain stable for cricket in Pakistan, India would exchange written assurance.

The World Cup schedule needs to be uploaded within few days. Without Pakistan, is it okay to keep group matches like India vs TBA (Pakistan) in place of Pakistan and so on. TBA would be absurd and ‘To Be Announced’ team would be whom and so World Cup schedule will be incomplete.

The reason is not simple here as Pakistan would not further compromise, which means no bending down even a bit more. Hybrid model more likely would be approved and Asia Cup 2023 will be moved after initial 4-5 matches in Pakistan to Sri Lanka or UAE.

Asia Cup Unreasonable Controversy Keeps UAE & Sri Lanka Wait

However, playing in Sri Lanka would be not so easy for India than in UAE or London. So, an arrogant decision also would be likely to push Pakistan completely in the corner. “No approval of hybrid model and the entire Asia Cup 2023 would be moved to Sri Lanka”. This is what BCCI wants as it’s currently ‘ACC = BCCI’.

Najam Sethi wants at least 4 ODI Asia Cup matches to be played in Pakistan, and then the entire tournament would move to a neutral venue. This is a compromise, which Pakistan is going ahead with, and as their hosting right. BCCI, so far haven’t given any signal whether green or red to the hybrid model. In the hybrid model, at least four initial stage ODIs will be played in Pakistan without India.
