Aussie Top Players Retiring Stuff So Cute To Only Say

Defending World Cup champions, the England team is also in a similar position like Australia. They’re a wonderful bunch of batters and bowlers. The batters, few of them also played Tests, in their own Bazball way, which is not so recent. Recently, Australia lost a preparatory ODI series, in India, right before the 2023 World Cup. With Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazelwood, David Warner, Steve Smith, and Glenn Maxwell, the Aussie top players are the ‘retiring stuff’ is too cute just to say.

A longtime ahead and a long way to go for all 10 teams, trying hard to be in the last list of the top FOUR position. Aussie top players realized now, a do or die situation for them. Aussie players, themselves to blame to play aggressively, right from the word go. In the end, they managed to win by 5 wickets against Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka was on top earlier and were playing and middling the ball, and were 157/2 to be bowled out for just 209. Thanks to Aussie fielding and comeback bowling, but still Australia after gaining 2 points are at 8th position, currently on the points table (with NRR).

They didn’t realized losing a batter even after he scored a fifty, is not the best choice to attack, once he gets a start. In the first two games, none of the Aussie top players scored a fifty. They got ‘some’ start, but went after the bowling and lost wickets, ended up losing 4 points. From the first two matches, Australia gained ZERO points, and were sitting at the bottom of the table, until they played Sri Lanka.

The Cricket World Cup is in ODI format and it comes every 4 years by that time every team has time to prepare for. Aussie top players were playing good cricket and the Aussie management have to include all top and over 34 year old players in the 15 member squad. Not so young Ashton Agar(30 year old), unfortunately ruled out at the last minute, but Australia still had the option to replace him with another to fly all the way from Australia. However, they went with Marnus Labuschagne(29 year old), who is in the squad already.

Aussie top players need to play probably their last World Cup with their experience and skills. Finally, they did so, and put a formidable Sri Lanka in further trouble thanks to poor captaincy by Kusal Mendis. However, if couple of players unfit, it makes a huge difference because when it comes to World Cup every player’s performance counts. Still, surely Australia missing Travis Head and Ashton Agar. The average age of Australia’s playing 11 is just more, but it’s too early to say, Aussie top players not performing because of older age.
