Just 12 overs were bowled by India at stumps post KL Rahul’s declaration, soon as Cheteshwar Pujara hits another century. His 102 in the late afternoon, interestingly scored in quick-time. Shubman Gill scored maiden ton, his first Test century. But it was left to Pujara to score his century too after a long-gap of 51 Test-match innings. A relieved Pujara now, who battled just too hard to score runs quickly.

Captain KL Rahul still frustrated as he seems to like more runs on the board in India’s second innings after denying follow-on to the hosts. It looked like he wanted the opposition to fight at least for 25 overs. However, he used as many as 5 bowlers in the 12 overs, which India bowled in their second stint. But couldn’t managed to put any pressure on the Bangladeshi opening pair. A lead of 512 runs is very good on a turning track.

A daunting task for Bangladesh to fight continuously for two more days, which would be a record if they score 471 more runs.

The two milestones on the third day, achieved in some quick time. It looked Gill and Pujara will be much happy if India wins comfortably. The other day Kuldeep Yadav picked a fifer, but he looked not so threatening on Friday evening. However, Bangladesh batters in their second innings still in deep trouble. But the openers Najmul Hossain Shanto and Zakir Hasan played out those 12 overs with some ease.

India bowled out for 404

Earlier, India won the toss and decided to bat first. India scored 404 as the lower order played good cricket. Next was Bangladesh’s turn, but the hosts managed to score just 150. The momentum shifted towards India since then. India then slowly piled up a huge lead of 512 runs, scoring 258/2 dec. KL Rahul again got out cheaply and another one, Shubman Gill scored maiden ton and was out for 110. Virat Kohli (19, 29b) and Cheteshwar Pujara (102, 130b) remained unbeaten.

During the course of the first Test match in Bangladesh’s Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, India played old fashion cricket.

Will it be Kuldeep Yadav again the hero along with Mohammed Siraj, interesting to know. The Test match not likely to end on day 5. Fourth day’s play will be tough for Bangladesh. But if Bangladesh continues to bat until tea without losing a wicket, anymore. Anything possible. A boring first Test match in which both teams played boring cricket so far, will be interesting if the hosts fight hard.
