In the Ashes series, played in England, and in the last few years, Australia on top. It’s all Australia since winning the WTC final against India. Also, Australia defeated England in Australia in previous Ashes series. England won Ashes in their den. Injured Nathan Lyon not playing, but Todd Murphy comes in, in Australia’s playing 11. Losing 4 wickets, having few runs on the scoreboard wasn’t worrying as Australia bounces back. Stunning comeback for Mitchell Marsh. He with Travis Head built a good and helpful rapid pace partnership.

England dropped Ollie Pope, James Anderson, and Josh Tongue to bring in Moeen Ali, Chris Woakes, and Mark Wood. Woakes bowled a good length ball on the offside and Marsh poked at it to get an inside edge to the slips. Zak Crawley took an easy catch. England was delighted for a while, but Alex Carry joined Travis Head. The momentum did not shift much more towards England after Marsh got out. He scored a century, a 118 off 118 balls.

This is the third Ashes test of the series of 5 tests. Australia still dominating England. Australia is 2-0 up in the Ashes series as England by bringing Wood, Woakes and Ali, still looks a bit outplayed by Australia. Their score already reached a ‘size’ in the day 1’s two sessions. Australia scored 240/5 in just 2 sessions, they played so far. The battle is on, and who knows which way the game would turn after the tea break.

Yes, Australia bounce back in the game, but England would do something differently post tea break. With a run-rate of about 4.5, Australia playing like white ball cricket. England would again have to continue with their way of ‘bazball’.

Australia Bounces Back, But…

This third test is scintillating, a thriller as Marsh dominated the Aussie bowlers. He’s gone and it would be a big test for two good players, Alex Carry and Travis Head. The tail would be exposed, once a wicket falls.

Australia scored 240/5 in just 2 sessions, they played so far. The battle is on, and who knows which way the game would turn after the tea break. Yes, what was mentioned and anticipated, have happened. Travis Head gone. Joe Root picks a simple catch. The ball an outgoing, bowled by Chris Woakes. Mitchell Starc comes in, and he’s no mug with the bat. Australia still in the game although momentum shifts towards England.

Cummins walks in after Starc bowled to a beauty by Mark Wood. Australia at this time were 249/7. The tail and Alex Carry. Will Carry play some innings with the tail?. No! Carry also got out by playing away to the onside for some runs. He was looking to score quick runs. Pat Cummins was there with him, and Australia looking to add another 50 runs. But Cummins was plumbed in front of the wicket, a ball bowled faster by Mark Wood.

The fast bowling picks few more wickets for England after tea break as mentioned above. Wood Picks fifer and Woaks picks 3. Stuart Broad also performs with the ball to pick two wickets again. Wow! What a turnaround! England back in the game. It’s all England to bowl out Australia in less than 61 overs. England would play about 20 overs in the first day of the third Ashes test. Australia bowled out for 263 off 60.4 overs.

The Bottom Lines:

However, England are reeling a bit on 68/3. Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow have to build a good partnership. Again Australia looks strong! England have to bat at least two sessions on day 2. But Australia would not let them play more than one session today on day 2. Australia bounces back again after England threatening to take the game away. England have to pile up more than 200 runs with seven wickets in hand to take some lead. However, two more wickets from here on before lunch, would expose English tail.
