Officers seize Ganja worth over 15 millions on Highway road

Based on specific intelligence, officers of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) in Hyderabad intercepted a Tata Truck. The Truck bearing Registration Number MH-13R-4039 at Panthangi Toll Plaza, Vijayawada-Hyderabad National Highway was stopped for checking.

During the checking process at Choutuppal Mandal, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri District, Telangana, the officers found drugs.  And on search of the said vehicle, the officers found 546 HDPE packages. These wrapped up packages with BOPP self-adhesive tape and weighing an astonishing 1121.5 Kilograms of Cannabis. Cannabis also known as Ganja, a Narcotic Drug covered under the NDPS Act, 1985. The officers further searched and found the drugs concealed beneath the load of fly ash bricks.

The value of seized Ganja in the grey market would be around Rs 1,68,22,500/-.  The contraband was loaded in to the vehicle at Sileru (agency area) and was moving towards Sholapur, Maharashtra. 

The said Narcotic drug vehicle, which has been used for concealment and transport of the contraband has been seized. Officers under the provisions of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985 seized the vehicle as well. 

Three persons including the mastermind have been arrested. Further investigation is in progress.
