Virat Kohli wanted RCB to score 140 to defend against SRH

AB de Villiers and Josh Philippe played cautiously as SRH bowlers bowled tidy length and line. And after AB de Villiers got himself out even then RCB was about to score 140. Lot of great balls bowled during the death overs restricted RCB to just 120 runs. And a target of 121 for SRH. Virat Kohli was playing under pressure and he too got out. When Washington Sundar started batting at a strike rate of over 100, Virat Kohli wanted RCB to score 140.

His players then played as if they were playing a test match. However, SRH played attacking cricket, right from the start as what a T20 match should be played.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) managed somehow to reach 120 runs. But Virat Kohli wanted RCB to score 140 runs, which was his way of thinking. One can also point out that there were almost 6 overs left when Jason Holder struck a big six as a winning stroke. SRH won the match and Virat Kohli blamed the dew factor.

How come Virat Kohli wanted RCB to Score 140 ?

Virat Kohli claimed that they were not outplayed. But he took the dew factor into consideration. The RCB skipper used his bowlers, especially Yuzvendra Chahal a lot more after the powerplay. Chahal bowled his first over after the powerplay of 6 overs. He blamed the dew factor as it was difficult to hold the ball in the second part of the match.

However, when RCB was put into bat, RCB skipper Virat Kohli was happy to bat first. He said, he would also decided to bat first, had he won the toss. The question comes here, that why then Virat Kohli took dew in consideration and supported his bowlers. Yes, he used Mohammed Siraj in the last over of the powerplay. And underestimated his talent to keep him away from bowling more than just 1 over.

“It was not enough. We thought 140 might be a good total to get into the game on the kind of wicket (pitch). Things changed suddenly. And we managed to score 20 runs short. There was a lot of dew, which we didn’t noticed. They (SRH) won the toss and from there we lost an important match. It was very difficult to hold the ball in the second half as SRH (Sun Risers Hyderabad) too the advantage”. He added.

However, SRH outplayed RCB in all the three departments of bowling, batting, and fielding. Yet, it’s amazing that Virat Kohli wanted RCB to score 140 to put pressure on SRH. How would that be possible? Let’s wait and watch the race for playoffs. It’s not a long way and SRH would be in.
