Pakistan struggle but Dutch on chasable target failed

Pakistan’s best batter and an exceptional captain and mentor, Babar Azam chose to bat first after winning the toss against Netherlands. The Dutch team responded very well to put Pakistan struggle initially. Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman worked hard to pick singles and played first 15 overs, cautiously since Imam Ul Huq was OUT, early! He played as much as 19 balls, but scored just 2 runs. He fell LBW to Vivian Kingma.

The run-rate was just over 3 runs per over, looked shocking for the Pakistani fans although Pakistan lost an early wicket of – Imam Ul Huq. A four or a boundary in a while, cheered a lot, but too much of a cautious start, wasn’t necessary.

A not so bad run rate achieved in the middle of the innings after 25 overs, completed. Both Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman were at the crease to score more than 5 runs per over. In the end lower order players – Shadab Khan and couple others after Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman left the crease took the score to 314. The target looked reachable for the Netherlands even after losing two early wickets.

However, Pakistan bowlers fought hard since the score of 314 was good and a winning score on this pitch. A target of 315 set for Netherlands to play the entire 50 overs in their chase.

The Netherland chase in losing cause

Pakistan captain Babar Azam used all his five bowlers within 20 overs, which kept the scoring rate on check. Mohammad Nawaz and Shadab Khan bowled tidily while Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah picked wickets. At the end of 20 overs, the Dutch team played not so badly even after losing 3 wickets in the big run chase. They were just marginally less than 5 runs per over at the end of 20 overs. At the end of 21 overs Netherland were 93/3.

A review in which Pakistan players keen to know the outcome

The Dutch or the Netherland’s batters too were fighting hard. Vikramjit Singh and Tom Cooper were fighting hard. Pakistan’s sixth bowler also brought in the attack – Agha Salman by Babar Azam. He too bowled well.

The Dutch team or you can say Netherlands were in the game, having 7 wickets in hand. However, the required rate was creeping up. One of the batters needs to hit a boundary every over or two. Pakistan were fighting hard to put more pressure as in the end of 26 overs Netherlands were 116/3.

A very good partnership between Cooper and Vikramjit, who together scored 97, which was the highlight of the chase. The partnership ended since Cooper was out first, and then Vikramjit also lost his wicket. Netherlands fought too hard, and in the end fail to chase 315. Well played Netherlands and also did well to put Pakistan struggle initially.
