Today was just the second day that ended as the hosts battled hard in the difficult end-time. The hosts, Bangladesh managed to score 7 runs without loss off the 6 tight overs bowled at them. The second and the final Test match #IndvsBan is also interesting as India again on the driver’s seat. The visitors batted just good enough to take 87 runs lead to bat possibly again to chase a likely small target. Bangladesh to bat for at least 4 sessions to save a ‘small whitewash’.
India’s two top-class young batters, Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer took India to a good total in their first innings.
Earlier, Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bat first on a pitch, which suited the bowlers more. The top and middle-order Bangladesh batters scored some good runs. But the tailenders were easily wiped off by India’s top wicket-takers, Umesh Yadav and Ravichandran Ashwin.
In the absence of previous Test’s player of the match Kuldeep Yadav, Ashwin bowled well this time. However, by taking a decision to drop the key player and later saying, it’s justified, isn’t good.
India did well to restrict Bangladesh in the first innings to a score just 227. However, Bangladesh fought hard and they bowled much better than India. But Rishabh Pant (93) and Shreyas Iyer (87) rescued India and with a fifth wicket partnership of 159, brought India too much back in the game.
Bangladesh to bat at least 4 sessions, including the entire day tomorrow and the final day’s first session to put India under pressure. But if not or otherwise, it’s all in India’s hand and India is in driving seat to win this one too.
