Patanjali Ayurveda owner and yoga guru Baba Ramdev said that he uses cow urine in his company’s five products. Muslims can ignore or avoid these five out of 700 affordable and well made herbal medicines.
However, a ‘Fatwa’ was issued against Patanjali products in Tamil Nadu by a state-based Muslim organisation four years back. Since then Muslims stopped purchasing Patanjali products as the use of cow urine was highlighted. This affected the most profitable company in India to bear some loss.
In the ‘Fatwa’, it was alleged that cow urine shouldn’t be used as it’s of no benefit and regarded as ‘Haraam’ in Islam. The company then restricted itself to use cow urine in their five products only till today.
Further, Baba Ramdev claimed that Patanjali produces about 650-700 Ayurveda and herbal products. And out these, cow urine is used in only five products. He said Muslims can read the mentioned ingredients labelled over the products in which cow urine is used. The company in a statement also mentioned the list of products in which cow urine is used. These are as follows:

- Kayakalp Taila
- Panchgavya Soap
- Shudhi Phenyl
- Gowdhan Ark
- Sanjivni Vati
Above 3 listed products are used in external applications and 2 for consumption.
The company is running on loss currently and hence it was stated that: “Nobody should confuse crores of poor Muslims, who want to use affordable and pure Patanjali products.”
Recently Baba Ramdev was in the news for provoking Dalits. And they protested against him. He uttered ugly remarks over Dalits for a couple of times within that week. And an FIR against him was filed. Thus, the business tycoon is under pressure and thinking to resume his half way left political party “India Pride”. Ramdev also helped Narendra Modi indirectly during the election periods by providing yoga classes for free across the country. Bollywood celebrities also use Patanjali products. Actor Amitabh Bachchan also practiced yoga under the guidance of Baba Ramdev.
