In short or specifically, plagiarism means copying someone else’s work, and also plagiarism maybe unintentional sometimes. Plagiarism maybe unintentional sometimes because mostly social media posts copied and posted for fun. Most people on social media not at all aware of copying someone else’s work always equal to plagiarism. But again, that’s plagiarism by default on social media in practical sense. Professionals do not do so even on social media. However, if you claim any work of someone else as your own work then it’s an offense. It’s like cheating yourself, where you’ll not benefit anymore.
Plagiarized work loses value and always will be termed as low-grade work. This is so because plagiarized work carries no weight as someone else already did that work and achieved something more or less. However, you’ll achieve nothing by copying someone else’s work because of low value of your work due to plagiarism.
In academic writing and in the assignment work or whatever work given to you, plagiarism check tools used. The tools can prove whether you’re wrong or right. Wrong in the sense that your work resulted to be plagiarized. This way, if you’re wrong or you’ve committed an offense of copying someone else’s work. This is how your work will be rejected. However, if your work not plagiarized or copied then you’re right. You’re not doing any offense here. Your work will be of more value.
Value of unique informative content
Uniqueness in your content or work always keeps you free from plagiarism. Your work also based upon 10% to 20% plagiarism, but if it’s all unique then there will be “zero” plagiarism. Zero plagiarized work by students may not be so informative because of not much research in their work. High level authors write all unique content in their books or articles, and so their work is “zero” plagiarized, and also informative. Here, if authors use someone else’s ideas to make their work highly informative then they describe the sources at the end.
Some people copy and then paraphrase someone’s work. If they do so then they should provide original-work-owner’s source or sources. This is so to disclose from where they got the information, and to avoid plagiarism.
Other people’s ideas need to be addressed rather than simply copying. You can rewrite the original content and also at the same time describe the source from where you got the information. This is to avoid plagiarism. Simply copying and rewriting few paragraphs still makes no sense.
There’s no sense if you can’t rewrite word to word or change the entire content, to make it unique. It’s good to work in your own style and in your own voice and acknowledge the sources, you learned from. Plagiarism means copying just not to achieve something in your educational or official projects. If you copy then plagiarism means copying as taking credit yourself from someone else’s work without working hard creatively. Credit should be given where it is due. Copying or rewriting someone else’s content will not achieve you anything. Plagiarism means copying to achieve nothing.
Plagiarism means copying as losers in sometime
However, making active voice of the original passive voiced content or making passive voiced content of the original active voiced content also doesn’t make any sense. Also learning from someone’s work to write in your own style keeps you free from plagiarism.
You can learn a lot from others and also do keep in mind not to copy. There’s no plagiarism if you provide references to make your work more trustworthy and informative. This is another way to avoid plagiarism by learning from the sources and describing those sources. Learn and write in your own style not to be a loser in sometime.
Do referencing correctly, which can acknowledge someone else’s work and also protects your work from plagiarism. Book author, article author, online reports or post links from websites, blogs, and images or videos needs to be mentioned at the end of your document. This is known professionally as bibliography. However, in the middle or anywhere in your content if you use any author’s words then use quotations.
Include any author’s words in your work this way
An example of quotation is, “be content with what you have, but don’t be content with what you do”. You need to mention here the author’s name, who wrote these words or else you can write one of the famous authors said so, but the author’s words need to be enclosed in quotations. In the other way round or to be on dot it should be like, JK Rowling said, “Creative writers are the best workforce of any company”. Let’s be creative and avoid plagiarism as writing is passion for creative writers.
You can write entire content in your own words by including few words of any author additionally like, it was learned from so and so author, who wrote this way in his latest book. Finally, to avoid plagiarism, you need to be enough knowledgeable.
