There was a herculean task to battle the bowling of top two India’s bowlers for England. The duo of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami along with Mohammed Siraj had put England in trouble. Five wickets fell earlier yesterday evening in quick time as Bumrah bowled at his level best and still bowling the best. However, during the lunch time England climbed mountain with their two aggressive batter; Jonny Bairstow accompanied by captain Ben Stokes. Both played really so patiently and with some aggression to keep India still hunting for yet another wicket.
Who knows, the 7th wicket partnership would grow just too much or broken right before tea break. Lot’s of time left in this final Test match. Lot’s of overs would be added because of rain interruptions. Shardul Thakur dropped a dolly. The ball, a beauty, bowled by Shami and it was a plan, which went begging. To add rubbing of salt to the wound, Bairstow started attacking the bowlers.
With just over 150 runs to reach India’s total, England still have 4 more wickets to play with.
Jonny Bairstow scored fifty off 81 balls and India was still in the game since the scorecard read 147/5 at that moment. However, a good seventh wicket partnership between Jonny Bairstow and Sam Billings building up. It’s again a great fightback, which brought cheers to English fans. The Test match looks more like attacking bowlers’ and attacking batters’ match. The situation was tough, but England climbed mountain, credit to Jonny Bairstow.
India also fought-back since losing 5 quick wickets for just 98 runs on the board. Similar situation going on for England, where India piled up runs with Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja batted vey nicely. Now, Jonny Bairstow and Sam Billings doing the same.
A Good Looking Sixth Wicket Partnership Ended
Shardul Thakur brought into the attack. A good ploy to bring him in, it worked in India’s favor. Thakur bowled the similar next ball to Ben Stokes, as this time Bumrah stretches to his left, leans down, picks up a very good catch.
This brought smiles in the Indian camp since two catches were dropped in just 10-12 mins of play around the first session of day 3. An easy catch dropped earlier by Shardul Thakur off Mohammed Shami and then a sitter by Jasprit Bumrah off Thakur.
Thakur claimed Ben Stokes’ big wicket. Stokes left cold-blooded in disbelief, out for 25 runs. A good partnership ended. The 6th wicket partnership looked good. However, another partnership building up as England climbed mountain, just an amazing cricket Test match.
The 66 run partnership between Jonny Bairstow and Ben Stokes broken, but brought some momentum in England innings. A long way to go, an interesting Test match to watch for two more days even if it ends as a draw. India though deserved to win it.

Run-machine Jonny Bairstow scored third century in a row
Almost similar to Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja’s innings, Jonny Bairstow scored a match saving century. The third day of the final Test match of the 2021-2022 Pataudi Trophy is amazing. Bairstow was overjoyed with his century scoring three hundreds consecutively.
Bairstow did his best for England, yet again. He needs appreciation a lot more, playing out hard-to-play deliveries, patiently earlier bowled by Bumrah and Shami. He’s now playing aggressively. He looked all set, watching the ball like a football. England needs more than 100 runs to reduce the lead to nil until the tea break, but Bairstow is out! He was out caught by Virat Kohli off Mohammed Shami.
Shami picks his second wicket. Tea break would be taken in about one and half hour’s time. By that time, England would be all-out, but it would be too late. This is so because already England climbed mountain to score 248/8. A good score. Now, England is just under 150 runs behind. A slender lead for India, won’t be helpful.

Since 248/8, England looked as if playing to make too many quick runs. Jasprit Bumrah picked 3 wickets. Mohammed Shami 2 wickets. Mohammed Siraj was the top wicket taker with 4 wickets, while Shardul Thakur picked 1 big wicket, respectively. The good news for India is that India is on top rather a draw also would keep India’s morale high. However, Sam Billings and Mathew Potts were fighting hard.
Mohammed Siraj bowls out Sam Billings to pick his third wicket. He gets another one. Siraj claims Mathew Potts’ wicket. A catch by Shreyas Iyer was not conclusive, but the on-field umpire soft signaled as out. The third umpire didn’t got enough evidence to overturn the on-field umpire’s decision even though it was a soft signal. The decision was made. Crowd were amused at this.
England were reduced to 267/9, and then all-out for a mere 287. Tail did not wag. Here, one more good news for India that there are still plenty of overs left. England played so far just 61.3 overs. That’s not just what you’ll believe. England picks an early wicket. Shubhman Gill was out, caught at slips by Zak Crawley off James Anderson. India lost first wicket at just 4 runs on the board.
