How To Control Expenses In UK
Most of the students from Asia, are just crazy about studying in the “UK”. Let’s know that the United Kingdom includes all territories, for example, England and Wales. Great Britain is also reasonably smaller region to the United Kingdom, the UK. The Great Britain including Scotland, Northern Ireland and England, forms the entire UK, the European Island country. Looking at the currency value, Asian students from countries like India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh are, if from middleclass family, would be desperate to study and earn in the UK.

When I went to the UK in the year 2010, as an overseas student, I was fortunate to have one of my old friends — from back home. He guided me not so rightly, since I reached Reading to stay with him, and his friends, just for a week. Reading is a large town in Berkshire in England. However, since I was not comfortable staying in Reading, and which was not so crowded and far from my college, I decided to move to London, to join my cousin. He was delighted to see me in London.
A Sigh Of Relief
A sigh of relief, and lots of things to share, I was living comfortably in London with him and the others. A shared accommodation for four in a big room and a single restroom along with a kitchen to cook your own food.
If you eat outside, it would cost you dearly. So, to eat the best and by spending less, would be, by cooking yourself. You’ve to carry at least 2000 pounds with you in order to bear the rent, travel, and the meals, which would help you at least for six to eight weeks. In these six weeks, in 2024 or 2025, you should be able to get a job. Odd or even doesn’t matter. Isn’t it?
Well, jokes apart, you’ll not get a white-color job, since an overseas student is allowed to work only 20 hours per week. So, an odd job, would generally serve you to take care of just your own expenses. You can’t send money back home to support your dependents if any. But you can make extra money, which would surely help you to send some amount to your home country. There would be some holidays for you, which your college provides, and so you can earn a lot, working full-time during these holiday-terms. Working full-time means more than the double, more than 40 hours per week.
Unlike in 2010, the UK, is much crowded and expensive, now. Keeping in mind, the students from Asia, looking to study in the UK, should be very careful and mindful of how and on what they spend before or after getting the job. Just like what I did about 14 years ago, you need to stay near to your College or University. But if it’s quite far for you, you need to know the bus-route to tube-route, in proper order to travel to and from.
How To Control Expenses Back Home
Looking at you, working so hard as your dependents would have a feel for you, they too want to do something. Send them on a scale, by which I mean an amount of money every month, and that’s it. This so because, you need to save some money for your extra studies too, if for a reason you failed in the exams and so on. However, you can work full-time once you finish your studies for a year or two. The PR process, and other necessary information, you would get definitely from your agent.
Meals are more expensive than travel. For traveling, you can make an oyster card. Oyster card for students would cost less, but you need to maintain your attendance to the college or university. This oyster card can be renewed on a monthly basis if your attendance is good.
In the context of how to control expenses, and overall, your daily expenses if you consume veg or non-veg including your travel and rent of the bed would be around 110 pounds per week. If you spend on outside food once in a while and go out sightseeing, you could still easily save 5 pounds per week.
This 5 pounds counts a lot, when you can start sending money backhome about 20 to 50 pounds on a monthly basis. However, when you earn on your holidays, you just save some amount by working full-time, to help your dependents. This way, in the context of how to control expenses… It’s better to go for masters to the UK other than an undergraduate course and apply for PR later on and try to earn more since I hope you plan to spend some good time on your studies. Your studies and your work should be maintained nicely.
